At least 1,200 buses and utility vehicles have been granted special permits so far in line with the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said Wednesday.

“As early as Oct. 15, nag approve na po kami ng special permit para sa buses doon sa mga mahahabang ruta like Bicol at Cagayan (Valley). May special permits na kaming binigay to as many as, as of now, 1,200 buses, including yung UVs (utility vehicles),” LTFRB chairperson Teofilo Guadiz III said at a public briefing.

(As early as Oct. 1, we approved special permits for buses plying on long routes like Bicol and Cagayan. We gave special permits to as many as 1,200 buses, including UVs, as of now.)

Guadiz also said the LTFRB will also deploy its personnel to bus terminals to check the roadworthiness of the PUVs and if it has complete documents to operate.

He added that LTFRB personnel will also be on the road to check the conditions of drivers.

Malacañang has declared All Saints’ Day on Nov. 1 and All Souls’ Day on Nov. 2 as special non-working days.

On Tuesday, Malacañang suspended work in government offices and classes at all levels from noon onwards on October 31, 2024, to allow employees to travel to and from the provinces to observe Undas. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
