Quiboloy leaves Camp Crame for Senate probe

Kingdom of Jesus Christ leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy left the Philippine National Police Custodial Center at Camp Crame in Quezon City on Wednesday morning to attend a hearing at the Senate.

The convoy of Quiboloy exited the detention facility at around 8:37 a.m., according to GMA Integrated News reporter James Agustin.

The Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality is set to probe the alleged abuses committed by Quiboloy and his religious group KOJC.

Despite the partial suspension of work in the Senate on Wednesday due to the inclement weather caused by Tropical Storm Kristine, the committee hearings will push through.

Quiboloy is expected to attend the hearing after the Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 159 granted the Senate committee's request for him and his five co-accused to appear in the legislative investigation.

The religious leader is charged with qualified human trafficking, a non-bailable offense, before the Pasig court. He is also facing charges of child abuse and sexual abuse before a Quezon City court.

Quiboloy and his camp have denied the allegations. —Joviland Rita/KG, GMA Integrated News
