Palace suspends work in gov't, classes in all levels in Luzon on Oct. 23, 2024
Malacañang on Tuesday evening announced the suspension of government work and classes in all levels in the entire Luzon on Wednesday in anticipation of the effects of Tropical Storm Kristine.
This was upon the recommendation of the Office of Civil Defense and the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
The Office of Executive Secretary, however, said those agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary services.
Meanwhile, the suspension of work for private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads.
Weather bureau PAGASA said Kristine (international name: Trami) was last located 390 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
The tropical storm, which was moving westward at 15 km/h, is expected to make landfall over Isabela as a severe tropical storm on Wednesday evening. —NB, GMA Integrated News
