DILG's Remulla says 38 hot spots in PH ahead of Eleksyon 2025

Interior Secretary Juanito Victor ''Jonvic'' Remulla said Tuesday that there are 38 hot spots being looked into ahead of the 2025 midterm elections.

At a Palace press briefing, Remulla said out of the 38 hot spots, 27 are in the Bangasamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Remulla said authorities are also looking into the situation in Albuera, Leyte as there were reported casualties in the area.

'''Yun we will watch closely kung anong nangyari doon,'' Remulla said.

[We will watch closely what's going on there.]

The Philippine National Police earlier said it would determine if additional personnel would be needed to deploy in certain areas in anticipation of possible election-related violence.

Meanwhile, President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. has tasked the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of midterm polls.

“The most immediate here is the elections,” Marcos said during a sectoral meeting with Remulla.

The DILG chief told Marcos that a special meeting between concerned agencies such as the Commission of Elections (Comelec), the Department of National Defense (DND), the PNP, and the DILG will be held on November 15 to discuss the measures in achieving a peaceful election.

At the same time, Marcos said he also wants to speak to the families and the leadership of the BARMM for the peaceful elections.

“Magtanong na rin tayo sa mga magiging leadership ng BARMM (Let's ask the leadership of BARMM). We can ask the chief minister what he thinks,” Marcos said.

“Same thing, we talk to the families. We talk to the families what they think. I’m interested to hear what they have to say. Hindi pa natin sila kinokonsulta about this (We have yet to consult them),” the President added.

In response, Remulla said they are already closely coordinating with all concerned government agencies including the PNP and the military to guarantee that no election-related violence occurs. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
