Sandro disdained over Sara's 'abhorrent comments' vs. Marcoses

Sandro' Marcos expressed disdain over the recent remarks made by Vice President Sara Duterte against the Marcoses.

Ilocos Norte Representative Ferdinand Alexander ''Sandro'' Marcos on Tuesday expressed disdain over the recent remarks made by Vice President Sara Duterte against his father, President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr., and grandfather, former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

In a statement, the presidential son said he could not stay silent when the Vice President ''threatens to exhume a former president and behead an incumbent one.''

''Forget that the objects of her derisions are dear to me, but I would also be remiss in my responsibility as an Ilocano representative if I didn't voice out my disdain at the abhorrent comments she so carelessly uttered. I can ascertain that my emotions are shared not only by my kakailian in the north but across the country,'' he added.

'Going ballistic'

Sandro said he had stayed silent out of respect for the Duterte and that his father advised him to withhold his disappointment and refrain from making any statement against her.

''However, one must draw the line at some point and it's frankly long overdue. Going ballistic was perhaps the self-therapy she prescribed for herself,'' he said.

He added that Duterte ''crossed the line, leaving the civic and civil space in which disagreements can be rationally argued.''

Sandro also said this should be an opportune time to remind ourselves that ''we mustn't take our mental health for granted and that above all else I sincerely hope she is okay.''

''As such, I still wish the Vice President well. Ultimately, her success, like the President's, will be the success of our nation as a whole. May she find the peace of mind and mental clarity that seems to be eluding her,'' the younger Marcos said.

GMA News Online asked Duterte for comment but she has yet to reply as of posting time.

Tirades

Duterte talked to the media last October 18 where she made controversial tirades against her running mate in the  2022 polls.

She shared that she told the president’s sister, Senator Imee Marcos, that she would dig up the body of their late father and throw it in the West Philippine Sea if the attacks against her don’t stop.

She also mentioned that she imagined cutting off the president’s head as she finds her relationship with him “toxic.”

Duterte also accused Marcos of not knowing how to rule a country.

Malacañang refused to comment on the remarks made by the vice president. However, lawmakers have mixed views on Duterte’s recent behavior.
