LOOK: Marcos, FL Liza attend Prabowo inauguration in Indonesia
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos on Sunday were present at the inauguration of Indonesia's President-elect Prabowo Subianto.
Marcos was seen wearing a Barong Tagalog, the national dress shirt of the Philippines, while his wife had on a maroon dress with gold embellishments.
The First Couple arrived in Jakarta on Saturday evening, as confirmed by Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Acting Secretary Cesar Chavez.
The inauguration of Prabowo and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the son of outgoing Indonesian President Joko Widodo, is currently being held at the House of Representatives Building in the Indonesian capital.
According to the PCO, the Marcoses’ visit in Indonesia for Prabowo’s inauguration “highlights the Philippines' strong diplomatic ties with Indonesia as the two nations mark 75 years of formal relations.”
In a Facebook post, Marcos congratulated Prabowo and Gibran on their inauguration.
“As a fellow founding member of the ASEAN, Indonesia is one of the Philippines’ long standing partners and closest friends in the region,” the Philippine President said.
“I reaffirm our nation’s desire to further strengthen our bilateral ties with Indonesia on this momentous occasion and in lieu of our diplomatic relations’ 75th anniversary in November," he added.
