Prosecutor General Malcontento resigns, says SOJ Remulla
Benedicto Malcontento has resigned as prosecutor general of the Department of Justice’s National Prosecution Service (NPS), Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla confirmed Thursday.
Malcontento tendered his irrevocable resignation to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday.
“I have served the National Prosecution Service, Department of Justice for the last five (5) years. I have decided to pursue other endeavors,” Malcontento said in the letter.
“It has been a pleasure and an honor to serve NPS-DOJ,” he added.
Malcontento was appointed to the post by then-President Rodrigo Duterte in June 2019.
The NPS conducts preliminary investigation and prosecution of all cases involving violations of penal laws in the Philippines.—LDF, GMA Integrated News
