Pulse Asia survey shows top issues senatorial bets should carry as their platforms

The senatorial candidates for the 2025 midterm elections should prioritize job creation in their campaign platforms, a Pulse Asia poll commissioned by Stratbase Group showed.

The Pulse Asia survey conducted last September 6 to 13, which asked respondents “What do you think are the most important issues that candidates for senator in the May 2025 elections should carry as their platforms?”, revealed that 57% of Filipinos believe that job creation is the most important issue that 2025 Senate bets should address.

This was followed by investment-led economic growth at 44% and fighting corruption at 41%.

Quality healthcare ranked fourth with 33%, followed by quality education at 29%.

Rounding up the top 10 issues Filipinos think senatorial bets should include in their campaigns are:

  • peace and order at 24%;
  • wider internet access at 19%;
  • building various renewable energy resources at 18%;
  • reliable mass transportation at 17%; and
  • illegal drugs at 15%.

There were 0.4% of the respondents who said they did not have enough knowlegde to give a response, while 0.1% did not respond.

"Investment-led growth is essential for sustained economic development as it fuels job creation, innovation, and competitiveness," Stratbase Group CEO and founder Professor Dindo Manhit said.

"When we prioritize investments, we not only fuel sustainable growth but also build a foundation that allows us to recover swiftly from disruptions, empowering us to face future challenges with confidence,” he added.

Accountability

Meanwhile, the same poll showed 90% of Filipinos want to hold corrupt officials accountable.

Respondents were asked how much they agree or disagree with the statement “Government officials involved in corruption must be held accountable”.

Those who agreed with the statement were 91% of respondents, while 9% said that they cannot say if they agree or disagree.

Meanwhile, no one disagreed with the statement.

The poll, conducted last September 6 to 13, asked 1,200 respondents and had a ±3 margin of error.

Based on Commission on Elections (Comelec) records, there are at least 183 individuals who filed certificate of candidacy for senator for the 2025 polls last October 1 to 8.
