BI says Alice Guo entered Malaysia via air
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Tuesday said that dismissed Bamban mayor Alice Guo flew to Malaysia from the Philippines, contrary to her earlier claims that she and her siblings left the country via several boat transfers.
During the resumption of the Senate hearing into illegal POGOs, Immigration Commissioner Joel Viado said Guo entered Malaysia via a flight that landed on July 18, 2024.
“She entered Malaysia via air on July 18,” Viado said when asked about the BI’s preliminary conclusion.
Guo, also identified as Guo Hua Ping, and her purported sister Shiela Guo previously told senators they left the country by taking several boats in the first week of July.
When asked if this means that their claims that they left the country via boat are false, Viado said authorities “may presume that.”
He said there was no record of Guo’s entry into Sabah on July 19.
“If she went to Malaysia via sea it might have been through Sabah and there’s no record of entry of Alice Guo into Sabah,” said the Immigration official.
Hontiveros previously revealed that Shiela’s passport had a stamp that she arrived in Sabah. However, she said the stamp was proven to be fake.
“Hindi siya nagma-match. As far as the BI is concerned, walang record of entry ni Guo Hua Ping and her party sa Sabah on July 19,” Hontivero said.
(They do not match. As far as BI is concerned, there is no record of entry of Guo Hua Ping and her party in Sabay on July 19.)
Alice Guo is facing a qualified human trafficking case before a Pasig court and a graft case before a Valenzuela court.
The dismissed mayor is also facing a tax evasion complaint, 87 counts for money laundering, and a perjury and falsification complaint before the Justice Department. —RF, GMA Integrated News
