Gatchalian: Chinese 'spy' She Zhijiang, 'handler' traveled multiple times to PH

She Zhijiang, the detained tycoon and self-confessed Chinese spy in an Al Jazeera documentary, and a certain Ma Dongli, a supposed "handler" of China's state agents, have traveled multiple times to the Philippines.

This was discussed during the continuation of the Senate investigation into illegal POGOs, where She's former cellmate and friend, Wang Fu Gui, confirmed that dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo is a spy. Wang said that it was possible that She and Guo have the same handler, whom he identified as Ma Dongli.

Senate Deputy Minority Leader Risa Hontiveros showed the travel records of Ma Dongli before the committee, which indicated that the supposed contact in China's ministry of state security used different visas when he entered the Philippines.

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian then disclosed that Ma Dongli had been in and out in the Philippines from 1995 to 2019.

"Ma Dong Li is not, hindi siya bago sa bansa natin (Ma Dong Li is not new in our country). In fact, checking the flights from 1995 to 2019, he traveled to the Philippines 37 times," Gatchalian said.

Gatchalian also said that She had traveled from 2011 to 2020 for 21 times.

"Si She Zhijang, hindi na rin bago sa atin. From 2011 to 2020, he traveled to the Philippines 21 times (She Zhijiang is also not new in our country. From 2011 to 2020, he traveled to the Philippines 21 times)," he added.

"Labas-pasok sila sa ating bansa and we all know that si Mr. She, nakulong sa Thailand for the same crimes—human trafficking, scamming and other criminal activities. Ma Dong Li is a partner of Mr. She in the Yatai Myanmar company, which operates 'yung POGO hub sa Myanmar. So, in other words, magkasama itong dalawang ito," Gatchalian said.

Guo, who was tagged by She as a Chinese spy like him, denied knowing the detained tycoon and the supposed handler.

The dismissed mayor maintained that she is not a spy.

Guo is facing a qualified human trafficking case before a Pasig court as well as a graft case before a Valenzuela court in connection with her alleged involvement in the illegal POGOs in Bamban.

A quo warranto petition was also filed against Guo with a Manila court as well as a petition to cancel her birth certificate before a Tarlac court.

She is also facing a tax evasion complaint as well as 87 counts for money laundering before the Justice Department. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
