Kababaihan party-list files CONA for Eleksyon 2025

Quezon City Councilor Kate Galang-Coseteng is seeking a House seat in Eleksyon 2025 as the first nominee of the Kababaihan party-list.

Coseteng is the daughter-in-law of Anna Dominique "Nikki" Coseteng, who previously served as senator and congresswoman of Quezon City's third district.

She lodged her certificate of nomination and acceptance (CONA) with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Law Department Offsite Working Area at the Manila Hotel Tent City on Tuesday, vowing to provide livelihood for women and to address digital human trafficking.

Speaking about her group's campaign platform, Galang-Coseteng said, "Number one raw po ang Pilipinas sa online human sex trafficking. Sa pagre-research ko, puwede natin gayahin ang batas sa ibang bansa gaya ng London [sa Britanya] kung saan ginagawa nilang liable ang tech companies na nagre-release ng pornograpiya. Isa 'yun sa tinitingnan namin na puwede naming gawin bilang mambabatas," she added.

(The Philippines has been found to be one of the countries confronted with online human sex trafficking. We can legislate measures similar to laws abroad like in London, Great Britain, wherein tech companies are being held liable for releasing pornography.)

The party-list group said it would lobby for abortion, reproductive health (RH) bill, and divorce but with "exceptional circumstance."

Other party-lists groups that filed CONAs on Tuesday are Serbisyo sa Bayan party-list, United Frontliners of the Philippines party-list, and Tulungan Tayo party-list.
