VP Sara honors hard work, dedication of educators on World Teachers' Day

In celebration of World Teachers’ Day, Vice President Sara Duterte on Saturday expressed gratitude for the dedication and hard work of all Filipino educators.

"We are grateful for the sacrifices you make in shaping the minds of young Filipinos and inspiring them to become responsible citizens," Duterte said in a video message which she posted on Facebook.

"Your tireless efforts in classrooms and communities demonstrate your commitment to building a stronger nation," she added.

She also asked the teachers to continue to be strong towards promoting a youthful nation.

The vice president also called on the educators to make the theme “Together4Teachers” echo across the country.

"Let us urge our government and private sector leaders and every Filipino from all walks of life to invest in education and join us in addressing learning poverty," Duterte said.

"Let every Filipino child reach their full potential," she added.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. earlier recognized the indispensable role of teachers and called for public support to advance inclusive education.

“Our teachers lie at the heart of our educational system standing as the second parents of our children and molding them into future leaders, changemakers, and nation builders. They play an indispensable role in preserving our country’s democratic values and way of life not only as stewards during elections but also as influencers of the younger generations,” Marcos said in his message.

Under the Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act, public school teachers get additional teaching allowance, personal accident insurance and special hardship allowances, he said.

There are also initiatives being pursued which are aimed at enhancing teachers' skills through professional development and career advancement opportunities so they can be at par with their counterparts abroad, the President added. —KG, GMA Integrated News
