Ben Tulfo files certificate of candidacy for senator for Eleksyon 2025

Seasoned broadcaster Ben Tulfo on Saturday filed his certificate of candidacy for senator for the 2025 midterm elections.

Tulfo, who is running as an independent candidate, said as a journalist with a show, his focus is on community service. He would like to solve recurring problems.

“We realized that after helping people for the last 22 years, they keep coming back. Broken system, in other words. We keep helping them. You’re not solving the problem because our job is to seek the truth and tell the truth. And so we decided to be advocates by being part of the solution, and that’s the reason why we’re here,” Tulfo told the media at the Manila Hotel Tent City, where senatorial aspirants file their COCs.

He also said there is a possibility that he will campaign with his brother ACT CIS party-list lawmaker Erwin Tulfo, should he run for the Senate post.

Their other brother is incumbent Senator Raffy Tulfo.

“We brothers talk to each other. We understand each other. We kinda like to share each other wisdom. We help each other. Sometimes, the reality is we disagree with each other but we are still brothers. So I don’t need permission from my younger brothers as to work my decision as a pathway to destiny,” Tulfo said.

Should all the Tulfo brothers get seats in the Senate, Tulfo said he would work independently, and voting as a block with his brothers would depend on the issue.

Before Tulfo, four other individuals formalized their respective senatorial bids for the 2025 polls on Saturday:
1. Warlito Bovier, who aims to propose for legislation for salary increase for construction workers;
2. Security guard and Army reserve Wilson Aclan;
3. Maria Charito Billones, 66, who believes religion should not meddle with civil powers; and
4. Engineer Jerson Ares, who proposes projects such as the super irrigation and a vessel that can counter storms.
