“Nangangahulugan na sa apat na araw na filing period natin ay nagkaroon tayo ng 58 na aspirant for senators at 50 naman para sa party-list,” Comelec chairperson George Erwin Garcia said during a media briefing.

(It means that on the fourth day of the filing period, we have a total of 58 aspiring senators and 50 party-list.)

During the first day of COC filing, 17 aspiring senators and 11 party-list groups filed their candidacies.

On Day 2, 10 senatorial aspirants and 11 party-lists filed their candidacies.

Meanwhile, 12 aspiring senators and nine party-lists filed their candidacies on the third day.

Of the 160 accredited party-list groups, Garcia said the number of those who filed their certificates of nomination and acceptance (CONA) so far is still low.

“Medyo hangang sa araw na ito medyo matumal pa rin kung tutuusin natin sapagkat meron tayong 160 na party-list na inaasahan na magfa-file ng kanilang CONA,”Garcia said.

(Until today, the number is still low since we have 160 party-lists expected to file their CONA.)

He added that currently, a fair number of senators filed their COCs for the 2025 polls.

“Subalit base sa kasaysayan natin sa filing ng mga candidacy para sa senators medyo mahigit sa 100 ang nagfa-file ng candiacy para sa senado,” Garcia said.

(However, based on the history, there were about 100 COCs filed for senators.)

On the fourth day of the filing period, Garcia said no untoward incidents were reported.

“Sa maghapon, base sa report ng operation center, wala pong naulat na kahit isang untoward incident o kahit isang election-related violence in regarding sa filing ng certificates of candidacy sa buong bansa,” Garcia said.

“Sana nga sa natitirang apat na raw pa mula ngayon, sana ganu'n pa rin ang magiging resulta na magiging orderly, maayos ang filing of certificates of candidacy,” he added.

(I hope that in the four remaining days, the result will be the same where the filing of certificates of candidacy will be orderly.) —LDF/KG, GMA Integrated News
