COC filing relatively peaceful so far, PNP says

The filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) for Eleksyon 2025, which started on Tuesday, has been “relatively peaceful” so far, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday.

“So far relatively peaceful po dahil wala naman po tayong natatanggap na any report na anumang kaguluhan or tension with respect po sa pagpa-file ng candidacy,” PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo said in a press briefing.

(So far relatively peaceful because we have not received any report of any disturbance or tension with respect to the filing of the candidacy.)

“Kaya ang PNP po ay patuloy po ang ating deployment doon sa mga Comelec offices at maging doon sa mga perimeter areas,” she added.

(That's why the PNP will continue our deployment in the Comelec offices and even in the perimeter areas.)

Police personnel are instructed to maintain vigilance and maximum police presence especially in areas where supporters gather, according to Fajardo.

A total of 18,280 elective posts will be up for grabs for Eleksyon 2025.

Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairperson George Garcia on Thursday said the filing of COCs and certificates of nominations of acceptance (CONA) remained peaceful.

“Base sa report ng ating operation center, wala na kahit anong insidente ng karahasan, violence, or irregularity or disturbance sa lahat ng sites natin ng filing, and therefore patuloy itong generally peaceful,” Garcia said.

(Based on the report of our operation center, there were no incidents of violence, irregularity, or disturbance in all our filing sites, and therefore it continues to be generally peaceful.)
