DFA cancels PH passport of Alice Guo
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday announced that it has canceled the Philippine passport of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo.
In a press statement, the DFA said the cancellation of Guo's passport took effect on September 30, 2024 by virtue of Section 10 (b) (4) of Republic Act No. 11983 or the New Philippine Passport Law, to wit: Section 10. Ground for Denial of Issuance of Passport; Cancellation of Passport; or Imposition of Restrictions on Passports.
A passport may be denied, or cancelled, or restrictions may be imposed on a passport if it was acquired fraudulently, tampered with, or issued erroneously. The DFA immediately acted on the matter upon receipt of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI's) certification, saying that the biometrics of Guo in the passport database match the biometrics of Guo Hua Ping in NBI files.
The DFA said it is committed to upholding the security and integrity of issuing Philippine
passports. It also assured the public that fraudulent application and acquisition of passports are referred to law enforcement agencies for investigation and prosecution.
The DFA also enforces Zero Tolerance Policy for unscrupulous individuals circumventing the Philippine passport application and issuance procedures.
Guo is facing a qualified human trafficking case before a Pasig court as well as a graft case before a Valenzuela court.
A quo warranto petition was also filed against Guo with a Manila court, as well as a petition to cancel her birth certificate before a Tarlac court.
She is also facing a tax evasion complaint before the Justice Department.
