Police task group created to probe Bulacan provincial council exec's killing

The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) has formed a special investigation task group (SITG) to investigate the killing of a Sangguniang Panlalawigan board member and his driver in Bulacan, its chief said on Friday.

“I have immediately ordered the creation of SITG Capistrano to conduct an in-depth probe on this incident and we are looking into all angles to establish possible motives,” PRO3 chief Police Brigadier General Red Maranan said in a statement.

“We assure the public, as well as the victims' families of our total commitment to ensure immediate resolution of the case through proper investigation. While we give importance to all cases, this particular incident will be treated as top priority since a local official is involved,” he added.

On Thursday, Provincial League of Barangays president Ramilito Capistrano and his driver were inside their vehicle when the perpetrators shot them in Malolos City.

Maranan said the police are now in the process of identifying those responsible for the killing.

“We are exerting all means and all necessary resources will be utilized to get into the bottom of this unfortunate incident as we are now in the process of gathering pieces of evidence that will lead us to the identification of the culprit/s,” Maranan said. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA Integrated News
