Comelec: Day 3 COC, CONA filings yield 12 senatorial aspirants, 9 party-lists


The Commission on Elections (Comelec) late Thursday afternoon wrapped up the third day of the week-long filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) with an additional 12 aspiring senators and 9 party-list groups.

“Nung sinaraduhan natin yung filing of candidacies para sa senators and party-lists sa araw na ito, meron tayong siyam na party-list organizations. Therefore, ang running  total natin ngayong araw mula October 1 ay 34 sa party-list,” Comelec Chairman George Garcia told the media.

“Sa senators ngayon araw naka 12 tayo. Therefore, lahat- lahat, tayo ay naka 39 na senatorial aspirants,” he added.

(When we closed the filing of candidacies for senators and party-lists today, we had nine party-list organizations. Therefore, our running total number today from October 1 is 34 party-lists. For senators, we have 12 today. Therefore, all in all, we have 39 senatorial aspirants.)

Here are the senatorial aspirants who filed their COCs for Day 3:

1. Jose Bunilla, independent 
2. Jaime Balmas of Kilusan Bagong Lipunan
3. Physician Willie Ong 
4. Senator Ronald Dela Rosa 
5. Senator Christoper “Bong” Go 
6. Actor Philip Salvador 
7. Elpidio Rosales Jr. of Kilusan Bagong Lipunan 
8. Robert Agad independent
9. Khaled Casimra, independent
10. Jimmy Salapantan, independent
11.  Rex Noel, independent
12. Roel Pacquiao, independent

Meanwhile, here are the party-list groups that are eyeing seats in the House of Representatives:

1. Alyansa Agila Para sa Bayan Inc. (1-Agila)
2. Solo Parent Working for Economic Rights and Other Thrusts for Equality (SWERTE)
3. FPJ Panday Bayanihan (FPJ Panday Bayanihan)
4. Barangay Health Wellness (BHW)
5. Solidarity of Northern Luzon People (Solid North)
6. Health Workers Partylist (Health Workers)
7. Agrikultura Ngayon Gawing Akma at Tama (Angat)
8. Ahon Mahirap (Ahon Mahirap)
9. Kamalayan ng Maralita at Malayang Mamamayan, Inc. (Kamalayan)

During the first day of CoC filing, 17 aspiring senators and 11 party-list groups filed their candidacies.

Meanwhile, 10 senatorial aspirants and 11 party-lists filed their candidacies on Day 2.

‘Continued to be generally peaceful’

Garcia also said the filing of COCs and certificates of nominations of acceptance (CONA) remained peaceful since it began on Tuesday.

“Base sa report ng ating operation center, wala na kahit anong insedente ng karahasan, violence, or irregularity or disturbance sa lahat ng sites natin ng filing, and therefore patuloy itong generally peaceful,” Garcia said.

(Based on the report of our operation center, there were no incidents of violence, irregularity, or disturbance in all our filing sites, and therefore it continues to be generally peaceful.)
