Marcos appoints former ES Oscar Orbos as acting PTV Board chair
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has picked former executive secretary Oscar Orbos as acting chairperson and member of the Board of Directors of state-run broadcaster People's Television Network, Inc. (PTNI).
The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) on Thursday said Orbos would be representing the private sector. He took his oath today before Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.
Orbos previously served as executive secretary as well as transportation and communications secretary under the administration of late President Corazon Aquino from 1990 to 1991.
He also served as congressman for Pangasinan's first district from 1987 to 1990 and as governor of the province from 1995 to 1998.
He also co-hosted GMA Network's "Debate with Mare at Pare," alongside economist Solita "Mareng Winnie" Monsod.
Meanwhile, Marcos appointed political analyst Antonio Contreras as acting vice chairperson and member of the PTNI Board of Directors, representing the educational sector; former PTNI general manager Katherine Chloe de Castro as director general of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA); and Francis Carlo Taparan as Director IV of the National Printing Office (NPO). — VDV, GMA Integrated News
