Comelec: No incident on 2nd day of filing of COCs

Comelec: No incident on 2nd day of filing of COCs

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Wednesday said there was no reported untoward incident on the second day of the week-long filing of candidacy across the country.

“Sa pangalawang araw, wala tayong natanggap na kahit anong untoward incident or kahit na anong report na nagkaprobelmea sa kahit anong [candidacy] filing sites,” Chairperson George Erwin Garcia said Wednesday late afternoon.

“Nagpapasalamat tayo dahil napaka tahimik ng naging COC (certificate of candidacy) filing sa buong Pilipinas,” he added.

(On the second day, we did not receive any untoward incident or any report that there were problems in any candidacy filing sites. We are thankful that the COC filing was peaceful across the country.)

Citing a report from the Philippine National Police, Garcia said there were zero crime incidents in areas where the candidacy filing sites were located during the first day.

Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said there was a power outage in an area in Mindanao on the first day of filing of candidacy, but noted that it did not hamper the agency from receiving aspiring political candidates.

“Na resolve naman agad [yung power outage]. Kahit naman magkaroon ng power outage, hindi apektado yung proseso nung pagtanggap ng ceritficates oif candidacy. Medyo incovenient, dumilim, pero hindi naman ito sagabal para hindi namin ituloy yung proseso,” Laudiangco

(The power outage was resolved immediately. Even if there is a power outage, receiving  COCs is not affected. It’s a bit inconvenient, it was dark, but it did not hamper us from continuing the process.)

The filing of COCs runs from Oct. 1 to 8, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. —NB, GMA Integrated News
