Pulse Asia: VP Sara Marcos approval trust ratings September 2024

Vice President Sara Duterte's approval and trust ratings went down by nine and 10 percentage points to 60 and 61 respectively, according to the latest Pulse Asia survey on the performance and trustworthiness of the country's top government officials.

According to the poll conducted from Sept. 6 to 13, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos saw his approval rating dip to 50 in September from 53 in June, and his trust rating fall to 50 from 52.

 

 

Speaker Martin Romualdez's approval rating decreased by three percentage points from 35 in June to 32 in September, while his trust rating dipped by four from 35 to 31.

Senate President Francis "Chiz" Escudero recorded a 60% approval in September. His trust rating fell to 56 in September from 69 in June.

The biggest movement among the top officials' trust ratings is Duterte's trust rating in NCR, which went down 29 percentage points from 66% in June to 37% in September.

This is followed by Duterte's distrust rating in NCR, which went up 20 points from 16% in June to 36% in September.

The third largest movement in the trust ratings are Escudero's trust rating in Balance Luzon and Romualdez's trust rating in Visayas, which both went down 18 points.

The biggest movement among the top officials' approval ratings is Duterte's approval rating in NCR, which went down 28 percentage points from 64% in June to 36% in September.

This is followed by Marcos' disapproval rating in Class ABC, which went up 17 points from 14% in June to 31% in September; and Romualdez's approval rating in Visayas, which went down 17 points from 59% in June to 42% in September.

 

 

The survey was conducted nationwide among 2,400 adult respondents, aged 18 and older. It has a margin of error of ±2 and a 95% confidence level.

Among the news developments in the weeks before the survey include the arrest of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy who is facing child sex trafficking charges, the hearings of the Senate and the House on Alice Guo and Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO), and the continuing tension between the Philippines and China in the West Philippine Sea.

Also in the news were the contentious hearings on the proposed 2025 budget of the Office of the Vice President, the House investigation into the war on drugs under former President Rodrigo Duterte, and the increasing cases of mpox.

There was also the news on the food poverty threshold released by the National Economic Development Authority, and the Philippine Statistics Authority data on the decline in inflation from 4.4% in July to 3.3% in August.  —NB/BM, GMA Integrated News
