Ayala matriarch Doña Beatriz passes away, says family’s company


Doña Beatriz Zobel de Ayala, the matriarch of the family that leads the country’s oldest conglomerate, has passed away.

“We confirm the passing of Doña Beatriz Zobel de Ayala, the wife of Ayala Corporation Chairman Emeritus Jaime Zobel de Ayala. The news was shared among Ayala employees earlier today,” Ayala Corp. said in a statement.

No further details were shared, with the family requesting privacy.

Zobel de Ayala is survived by her husband Jaime Zobel de Ayala, their children Jaime Augusto, Fernando, Bea, Patsy, Cristina, Monica, Sogia, and their spouses and grandchildren.

She was the matriarch of the family who leads the Ayala Group of Companies, which is involved in real estate and hotels, financial services and insurance, telecommunications, water, industrial holdings, power, automotive, outsourcing, and others.
