Nationwide earthquake drill set for September 26 — PHIVOLCS

The nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill for the third quarter of 2024 will be conducted on September 26, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

“Makilahok sa 2024 Third Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill o NSED na nakatakdang isagawa Setyembre 26, 2024 sa ganap na alas-9 ng umaga,” PHIVOLCS said on Monday.

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said other announcements regarding the earthquake drill will be posted on its Facebook page.

“Muli, sabay-sabay tayong mag-Duck, Cover, and Hold at magkaisa sa pagtataguyod ng ating kahandaan mula sa lindol,” OCD said.

(Once again, let's Duck, Cover, and Hold together and unite in promoting earthquake preparedness.)

The NSED is being held as part of preparations for the "The Big One”, a possible magnitude 7.2 earthquake that may be triggered by a movement in the West Valley Fault.

During the drill, the public is expected to participate by doing the Duck, Cover, and Hold postures.
