Over 600K voters applied for reactivation for Eleksyon 2025
More than 600,000 deactivated voters applied for reactivation for the 2025 national and local elections (NLE), the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Wednesday.
(We received around 6.4 million applications. Out of the 6.4 million, 3.3 million are new voter registrations. There are 2.6 million new voters and over 600,000 who are reactivating their registration.)
(We expect that in the remaining two weeks of registration, more people will register, especially those who have been deactivated.)
The deadline for the online application for reactivation was extended from September 7 to September 25, 2024.
(The process of reactivation is similar to other types of applications. Their applications will be posted in different parts of the city or town.)
(We conduct an election registration board hearing every 15th of the month. You will see your name posted, and if no one opposes your application, you can be sure that you will be included in the list of approved applications for registration. You will receive a notice.)
Latest data from the poll body showed the number of deactivated voters for the 2025 May elections stood at 5,376,630 as of September 11.
Reasons for the delisting were failure to vote in two successive preceding regular elections, by court order, loss of Filipino citizenship, and having non-valid documents.
Meanwhile, Laudiangco reiterated the poll body’s call for the deactivated voters to apply for reactivation. They may apply online as long as they have complete biometrics in the local Comelec office where they registered.
The different types of application for reactivation which can be availed online are as follows:
- Application for Reactivation
- Application for Reactivation with Transfer of Registration within or with Correction of Entries
- Application for Reactivation with Transfer of Registration within and with Correction of Entries
- For Senior Citizens and Persons with Disability (PWDs), the Application for Reactivation with Updating of Records
Those who wish to apply for reactivation online may reach out through the official email address of the Offices of Election Officer nationwide, which is available on the official Comelec website. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
