Marcos not under the weather, led meetings whole day —Herbosa

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is well and 'not under the weather,’ Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa clarified on Tuesday.

“From my perspective as a physician, the President performed all his duties today and is well and not under the weather as earlier surmised,” Herbosa said.

The Health chief issued the statement Tuesday afternoon after saying earlier in the day that Marcos is "just under the weather."

Herbosa was asked if anything was ailing the President after he was seen wearing a face mask during a sectoral meeting.

To this, Herbosa responded, "No, he’s just under the weather. So I supposed, it was his birthday last week, sa dami nang bumati sa kaniya, I’m sure someone passed him a bad bug."

In his latest statement, the Health official said he was with the president the whole day as he conducted two meetings in the morning. He said he only saw Marcos wear a face mask after the meeting and in a casual conversation with one of the secretaries afterward.

“I also saw him later in two other meetings where he delivered a speech and conducted a meeting without the use of a face mask,” he said.

“We should not be hastily concluding any diagnosis for anyone who wants to wear a face mask,” he added.

Meanwhile, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Acting Secretary Cesar Chavez also said that the president was “okay.”

“I attended three of his scheduled activities today. Okay naman ang pangulo natin. Halos sunod-sunod ang events niya ngayon,” he said.

Marcos celebrated his 67th birthday on Friday, September 13 with several activities.

The PCO said Marcos’ old friends threw a birthday party at a hotel in Pasay “after a tiring day filled with official engagements.” —LDF, GMA Integrated News
