Cassandra Ong unaware that godfather Duanren Wu is a fugitive in China

Cassandra Ong said on Tuesday she was unaware that her godfather Duanren Wu is a wanted fugitive in China as the Senate continues its probe into illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO).

Wu is an incorporator of Whirlwind Corp., which leases the land where the Lucky South 99 compound in Porac, Pampanga, is located.

Meanwhile, Ong is Lucky South 99’s authorized representative in the Philippines.

“We just got this information recently. Alam mo na ang ninong mo na si Duanren Wu ay wanted fugitive sa China?” Senator Risa Hontiveros said.

(We just got this information recently. Do you know that your godfather Duanren Wu is a wanted fugitive in China?)

“No po,” Ong replied.

Ong confirmed that she and Wu, an alleged former Chinese cop, live at the same address.

She also said she has other businesses with Wu, but when Senator Joel Villanueva asked how many businesses they have together, Ong said she would have to double-check.

The Senate issued a subpoena against Wu, who left the country on July 11 after he repeatedly failed to attend hearings.

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian earlier revealed that three POGO-linked foreigners, including Wu, supposedly helped dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo escape the Philippines in July. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
