Sual Mayor Calugay denies connection with Duanren Wu, Cassie Ong

Sual, Pangasinan Mayor Liseldo Calugay on Tuesday denied having connections to Duanren Wu and Cassandra Li Ong, two individuals linked to the raided Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in Porac, Pampanga.

Ong is the authorized representative of the POGO firm Lucky South 99 while Wu is her boss and godfather.

“Wala po,” Calugay said when asked about his supposed connections to the two during the hearing of the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality with the Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs.

According to Senator Risa Hontiveros, the chair of the committee on women, there was a photograph showing that Wu and Ong were present at the Kasalan sa Bayan in Sual town.

Calugay said that dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo had many companions at the event, but that he did not know some of them.

Earlier, Calugay also denied having a romantic as well as a business relationship with Guo, saying they were only friends.

For her part, Guo has also insisted that she has no relationship with Calugay.

Ong and Wu are facing a qualified trafficking complaint before the Department of Justice.

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian earlier said that Wu has already left the country. —KG, GMA Integrated News
