Marcos recommends Cheloy Garafil as MECO board chairman

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has recommended former Presidential Communications Office (PCO) secretary Cheloy Garafil as a member and chairman of the board of directors of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO).

The announcement was shared by the PCO on its Facebook Page.

In early September, PCO Secretary Cesar Chavez confirmed that Garafil would be appointed to lead the MECO in Taiwan.

Prior to being named as PCO secretary, Garafil served as officer-in-charge of the then Office of the Press Secretary.

In June 2022, Garafil was appointed by Marcos to lead the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

She served as service director at the Committee on Rules of the House of Representatives. She also served as prosecutor for the Department of Justice (DOJ) and State Solicitor for the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG).—Joahna Lei Casilao/AOL, GMA Integrated News
