Quiboloy’s ‘angels of death’ private army identified —PNP

Some possible members of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy’s alleged private army or ‘“angels of death” have been identified, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday.

PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo said Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) chief Police Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III told her they already have the names of the suspected members of the group.

“May initial na silang pangalan na maaaring miyembro nitong sinasabi ng angels of death na ginagamit para takutin at saktan itong magdi-divulge ng mga secrets nilang nangyari doon sa loob ng [Kingdom of Jesus Christ] building,” Fajardo said in a press briefing.

(They already have initial names who may be members of the angels of death who are used to scare and hurt those who will divulge their secrets on what’s happening in the Kingdom of Jesus Christ building.)

“Well, private army in the sense na they are taking orders from Apollo Quiboloy. Definitely, kasi sila nga ang ginagamit para panakot dito sa mga batang ito,” she added.

KOJC lawyer Atty. Israelitio Torreon said the exsitence of a private army controlled by Quiboloy was "not true."

"That is not true. I hope the public will not believe this latest tirade of attacks against Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy," Torreon said.

"If this is true, then this private army would have surely been unleashed during the 16 days KOJC siege where the members were subjected to so much violence and tramplings of their constitutional and human rights," he added.

"Yet, you never saw even one of them brandish a firearm in order to retaliate against the policemen. Instead, you saw bread and food being given to the policemen by the KOJC members," Torreon said.

"Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy has millions of private prayer warriors not a private army," he added.

Police earlier said that some alleged sex slaves of Quiboloy, who are minors, claimed that they are threatened with the “angels of death” if they tell anyone about the sexual abuses in the KOJC compound.

Fajardo said the PNP is investigating if the Army reservists and militiamen who are allegedly serving as bodyguards of Quiboloy are part of the "angels of death."

According to Fajardo, the PNP will now work on the cancellation of gun licenses of the “angels of death” members.

“Yan yung initial natin gagawin ngayon na we will be requesting the Firearms Exclusive Office for the revocation ng kanilang [License to Own and Possess Firearms] at firearms registration,” she said.

(That is the initial step we will do now that we will be requesting the Firearms Exclusive Office for the revocation of their License to Own and Possess Firearms as well as firearms registration.)

Meanwhile, the PNP said the medical assessment of Quiboloy for his appeal for hospital arrest in Davao City has been completed.

“Yung medical assessment po isu-sumite po natin yun sa korte and we will just be waiting for the court to rule kung dapat ba siyang ma-hospital arrest or mananatili siya sa kustodiya ng PNP or ililipat na rin siya sa Pasig City Jail,” she said.

(We will submit the medical assessment to the court and we will just be waiting for the court to rule whether he should be placed under hospital arrest, will remain in the PNP custody, or will be transferred to the Pasig City Jail.)

Quiboloy is currently detained at the PNP Custodial Center at Camp Crame in Quezon City. His four other co-accused were recently transferred to Pasig City Jail.

Arrest warrants were issued against Quiboloy and others for alleged violation of the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act as well as qualified human trafficking.

Quiboloy has also been indicted by a federal grand jury in the US District Court for the Central District of California for conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion and sex trafficking of children; sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion; conspiracy; and bulk cash smuggling.
