Marcos’ 'Duran Duran party' a surprise from friends —PCO
The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) on Saturday said that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.'s old friends threw a birthday party for him at a hotel in Pasay.
In a statement, PCO said that Marcos attended a party thrown by his old friends "after a tiring day filled with official engagements."
“And to his surprise and appreciation, music was provided by Duran Duran,” it said.
Acting PCO Secretary Cesar Chavez said the party was held ''at no cost to the government.''
Meanwhile, PCO further noted that the President celebrated his 67th birthday "with compassion for the needy and the sick and appreciation for the farmers who feed the nation."
The PCO on Friday announced that Marcos has allocated more than P300 million to shoulder the services of public tertiary hospitals across the country for the public in celebration of his birthday.
It added that Marcos spent his birthday as just another busy day in the office “with the same dedication to his job that has marked his presidency.”
"He opened the gates of Malacañang, where food booths awaited people from all walks of life who came from near and far to greet him a happy birthday," the PCO also said. —Sherylin Untalan/VAL/VBL, GMA Integrated News
