DepEd runs survey on employees' medical allowance

The Department of Education (DepEd) on Thursday said it has launched an online survey to assess the preference of its employees in availing of the P7,000 worth of medical services starting in 2025.

In an advisory, DepEd said the survey, initiated by the Bureau of Human Resources and Organizational Development, will also gather baseline data on health maintenance organization (HMO) benefits and other health insurance needs.

The agency encouraged all its teaching and non-teaching employees from all governance levels to participate in the survey here: bit.ly/HMOsSurvey

Participants must sign in using their official DepEd email account to accomplish the form.

Last month, the DepEd announced that public school teachers, as well as other government employees, will receive an annual medical allowance of up to P7,000 starting next year, under their expanded healthcare benefits.

The medical allowance will be a 1,300%-increase from the P500-medical allowance granted to teachers in 2020, which covered the cost of eligible diagnostic tests, said the agency.

It aims to help subsidize the cost of HMO-type services, and can be used for various medical services to support public employees in preparing for health-related emergencies. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
