Davao council to probe alleged police violations at KOJC operations

The Davao City Council will investigate alleged violations committed by the police during the operations at the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound.

According to a "24 Oras" report by RGil Relator on Tuesday, the council called the Interior Department to look into any constitutional rights violations committed by the police against members of the KOJC.

Following the arrest of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and four other co-accused at the KOJC compound, Davao police forces are now returning to their mother units.

Despite this, the regional police said it is prepared to call back its members if they need to face court cases in case KOJC members file complaints.

Members of the police are also looking into filing complaints against the KOJC.

“Pinagaaralan na ng regional legal office namin kung anong mga kasong pwede nating isampa against the KOJC,” said PRO11 spokesperson Police Major Catherine dela Rey.

GMA Integrated News has reached out to KOJC for comment.

Meanwhile, Davao police said they are ready to assist in rescue missions for individuals with relatives inside the KOJC compound.

“Pwede naman silang dumulog sa amin sa Sasa Police Station or they call 0998-598-7061,” added dela Rey.

They also said that they would not ignore the damages they may have caused during their operation.

The Jose Maria College said it is still conducting online classes as an assessment of the safety of the building is ongoing following digging operations by the police during the manhunt for Quiboloy.

“Hindi namin ‘yan babaliwalain. Of course, dadaan parin sa proper process bago natin i-compensate,” said dela Rey.
