Joel Villanueva, Jinggoy: Person who helped Alice Guo escape has 'Chinese name'

Senators Joel Villanueva and Jinggoy Estrada on Tuesday gave hints on the person who supposedly facilitated former Bamban Mayor Alice Guo's escape from the Philippines.

In an ambush interview, Villanueva said that the person whom Guo identified to have helped her flee the country has a "Chinese name."

"It's a Chinese name," Villanueva said when asked if the person who Guo has identified was Huang Zhiyang-- a Chinese fugitive who was found to have five passports in a raid conducted by the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) in Clark, Pampanga last June.

In a separate press conference, Estrada said the person that Guo identified is a "foreigner, a Chinese national and allegedly...he fled the country and he is now in Taiwan."

"I heard that he is the boss of all the bosses of POGO,"  Estrada said.

Asked if the person's name was Huang Zhiyang, Estrada responded with "most probably."

During the Senate hearing on Monday, Guo said they left the Philippines via boat transfers , starting with a yacht in Metro Manila.

During Monday's public hearing, Guo refused to name the person who supposedly facilitated their escape. Pressed by the senators, she later wrote the name on a piece of paper.

Guo said the person who arranged their escape was not with them when they were leaving the Philippines. Only an Asian woman accompanied them.

According to Guo the person who facilitated her escape "initiated" the move after an apparent confrontation.

She believes the person helped her because he or she felt "guilty" for what is happening to her life.

Since Guo did not want to disclose the identity of the person who facilitated their escape publicly, Senator Risa Hontiveros said the person named by the former mayor to the senators was already mentioned in previous hearings.

Estrada also dropped hints about the person that Guo has written on the paper, saying this person is a passport holder of the countries Kitts and Nevis, China, Cyprus, Dominica and Cambodia.

In a previous statement, Hontiveros disclosed Baofu Land Development Inc.'s 2019 Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) documents which showed that Huang Zhiyang is Guo's co-incorporator.

Huang Zhiyang was also among the respondents in the human trafficking case filed against Guo before the Department of Justice.

Guo on Monday categorically stated that there was no Filipino or Philippine government official who helped her in escaping the Philippines in July.
