Quiboloy, others to remain at Custodial Center —PNP
Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy and his four co-accused will remain at the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame despite a court order for their transfer to Quezon City Jail, a police spokesperson said Tuesday.
In a press briefing, Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo said a Pasig court has also ordered that Quiboloy and the others remain at the PNP Custodial Center.
"Meron din pong inilabas na order po ang RTC Pasig directing the PNP to retain the custody nitong mga nasabing indibiduwal dahil yung kaso po nila sa Pasig po ay non-bailable po,” she said.
(The RTC Pasig has also issued an order directing the PNP to retain the custody of these individuals because their case in Pasig is non-bailable.)
"So we don't want to run the risk na ilipat po sila doon po sa QC tapos po mag-bail po sila. Wala na pong kontrol ang PNP doon. We just have to really harmonize po itong mga court order na ito," she added.
(So we don't want to run the risk of transferring them to QC where they can post bail. The PNP has no control over that. We just have to really harmonize these court orders.)
Quiboloy and his four co-accused are facing qualified human trafficking charges before the Pasig Regional Trial Court Branch 159.
Offenses under Republic Act 9208 or the Anti-Trafficking of Persons Act of 2003 are non-bailable.
In a commitment order dated September 9, 2024, Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 106 Presiding Judge Noel L. Parel ordered the PNP to transfer Quiboloy and his four co-accused to the Quezon City Jail.
The order tasked the chief of the Philippine National Police Headquarters Support Service to "transfer and commit" Quiboloy and Cresente Canada to the New Quezon City Jail on Payatas Road.
Quiboloy's three female co-accused — Jackielyn Roy, Ingrid Canada and Sylvia Cemanes — were ordered transferred to the Quezon City Jail - Female Dormitory in Camp Karingal.
Aside from human trafficking, the five are also facing charges for sexual abuse of minors.
Fajardo said the PNP’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) is set to inform the QC court on the Pasig court's order for the retention of Quiboloy and others in the Custodial Center.
“Today po, nakatakda pong mag-submit po ng report at sagutin itong court order na ito ng CIDG, who has legal custody nitong mga naaresto para i-inform po ang court,” she said.
(Today, the CIDG, who has legal custody of these arrested persons, is set to submit its answer to the QC court to inform it about the order from the Pasig RTC.)
“Kausap ko kanina yung legal officer ng CIDG but they already coordinated with the panel of prosecutors of DOJ and they will be filing the necessary pleading today to request the court for the PNP to retain custody. So far yan po. But we jav to wait for the final documents po,” she added.
(I was talking to the CIDG legal officer earlier but they already coordinated with the panel of prosecutors of the DOJ and they will be filing the necessary pleading today to request the court for the PNP to retain custody. So far that's it. But we have to wait for the final documents.)
Meanwhile, Fajardo said Quiboloy and his other co-accused also have conflicting schedules for arraignment at the Pasig and QC court on Friday.
She said the PNP is addressing the matter. The detainees will attend the arraignment in Pasig court personally and in QC court virtually. —KBK, GMA Integrated News
