Court orders transfer of Quiboloy, 4 others to Quezon City Jail

A Quezon City court has ordered the transfer of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and his four co-accused from the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame to the Quezon City Jail.

The order, dated September 9, 2024, was signed by Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 106 Presiding Judge Noel L. Parel.

The order tasked the chief of the Philippine National Police Headquarters Support Service to "transfer and commit" Quiboloy and Cresente Canada to the New Quezon City Jail on Payatas Road.

Quiboloy's three female co-accused — Jackielyn Roy, Ingrid Canada and Sylvia Cemanes — were ordered transferred to the Quezon City Jail - Female Dormitory in Camp Karingal.

The court said the five should be transferred "immediately" upon the receipt of the order.

The wardens of the two Quezon City jail facilities, meanwhile, were ordered to produce Quiboloy and the others before the court on Friday morning for their arraignment and pre-trial "via videoconference hearing."

Quiboloy and the others are under police custody for alleged violation of the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act as well as qualified human trafficking.

Quiboloy, founder of the religious group Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), has also been indicted by a federal grand jury in the US District Court for the Central District of California for conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion and sex trafficking of children; sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion; conspiracy; and bulk cash smuggling.

Quiboloy's camp has repeatedly denied the allegations against him.

GMA News Online has already reached out to Quiboloy's lawyer, Atty. Israelito Torreon, for his comment regarding the transfer order, but he has yet to respond as of posting time.

Aside from this, Quiboloy is also facing a non-bailable qualified human trafficking charge before a Pasig court.

Quiboloy surrendered to authorities on Sunday evening after he was given an ultimatum to turn himself in within 24 hours.

However, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said he does not believe that Quiboloy surrendered to authorities. He emphasized that the police have been persistent in capturing the KOJC founder.

Meanwhile, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla on Monday said  they are expecting the United States to file an extradition request for Quiboloy very soon.  —with Joahna Lei Casilao/KBK, GMA Integrated News
