Sual mayor allegedly linked to Alice Guo on medical leave from Sept. 9-13


Sual, Pangasinan Mayor Liseldo “Dong” Calugay has designated Vice Mayor John Christopher Arcinue as acting mayor from September 9 to September 13.

Under Executive Order No. 045, Calugay designated Arcinue as acting mayor “due to [his] ongoing medical concerns.”

“The acting Mayor’s role shall be limited to ensuring the continuity of administrative functions and the delivery of basic services during the Mayor’s temporary incapacity,” it read.

Calugay, who is being linked to dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, was also unable to attend a Senate hearing on September 5 due to dengue.

Meanwhile, Senator Risa Hontiveros read his executive order during the resumption of the hearing of the Senate Committee on women, children, family relations and gender equality.

“Harinawa, within those four days, makadalo na finally si Mayor Calugay sa ating pag dinig (Hopefully, within those four days, Mayor Calugay will finally be able to attend our hearing),” she said.

Guo, for her part, insisted that she had no relationship with Calugay, describing him as a “friend.”

Subpoena

Earlier, the committee ordered the issuance of a subpoena against Calugay.

Hontiveros noted that this was the second time that Calugay failed to attend a hearing of the Senate.

Calugay’s executive assistant, Cheryl Medina, is present.

Medina was questioned about the Accounts Insurance Membership ID of Shiela Guo, which was supposedly issued by the local government.

She said they did not have such an ID.

Medina also said she was not a part of the local government at the time that the ID may have been issued 

Guo was nabbed by Indonesian authorities in Tangerang City last Wednesday. She arrived in the Philippines early Friday morning. 

She first appeared at the Senate investigation last May 7. Her second and last attendance was on May 22.—LDF, GMA Integrated News
