No immigration stamp on Alice Guo passport, says BI

No immigration stamp on Alice Guo passport, says BI

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Monday said dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo left the country illegally as there was no immigration stamp on her passport.

“We have reviewed the contents of her passport upon her arrival and found out that she has the same immigration stamps as her alleged sister Shiela,” said BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco in a statement.

“No Philippine stamps were found in both passports, showing that they left the country illegally without undergoing regular immigration inspection,” he added.

Guo, who faces complaints of human trafficking, undesirability and misrepresentation under Philippine immigration laws, returned to the Philippines on September 6 aboard a private plane at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City.

Upon her arrival, the BI reviewed her passport and found she did not pass through the immigration process. The document, which is valid until 2030, states she was born in Tarlac, Tarlac.

Meanwhile, Tansingco came in defense of his colleagues amid circulating photos of immigration agents during Guo’s arrest in Indonesia.

“Just like our colleagues at the NBI, we believe this has been misinterpreted, as the agents were just elated having completed the operation successfully,” the BI chief added.

“There is no inappropriate conduct, and no disrespect was intended. We take our work seriously and remain committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism,” he added.

Guo disappeared from public eye after attending Senate hearings in May regarding her alleged involvement in the raided Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in Bamban.

Her refusal to attend subsequent hearings had prompted the Senate to cite her in contempt and issue an arrest order against her.

Guo, who according to investigation has the same fingerprints as Chinese national Guo Hua Ping, left the country in July despite her name being on the immigration lookout bulletin. —Sundy Locus/KBK, GMA Integrated News
