Alice Guo insists she was born in Tarlac, refuses to confirm if she is Guo Hua Ping
Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo on Monday insisted during a Senate hearing that she was born in Tarlac and not in China.
“Ang alam ko po I was born in Tarlac,” Guo said during the resumption of the hearing of the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality.
(What I know is that I was born in Tarlac.)
Guo was responding to the questioning of Senator Risa Hontiveros, the chairperson of the panel, on whether she was born in China.
Hontiveros also asked Guo on whether she was Chinese national Guo Hua Ping, after the National Bureau of Investigation confirmed that the former mayor and Chinese passport holder Guo Hua Ping have the same fingerprints.
Guo, however, denied that she is Guo Hua Ping.
“Honestly, hindi ko po alam kung paano nangyari. Basta alam ko alam ko ako po si Alice Guo. At pasensya na rin po kung hindi kayo naniniwala,” she told the committee.
(Honestly, I don't know how it happened. I just know that I am Alice Guo. And I'm sorry if you don't believe me.)
The former mayor maintained that her father is Guo Jian Zhong but denied that her mother is Chinese passport holder Lin Wen Yi.
“Ang tatay ko po si Guo Jian Zhong po at hindi ko po nanay si Lin Wen Yi (my father is Guo Jian Zhong and Lin Wen Yi is not my mother),” Guo said.
Following this, Senator Loren Legarda stressed that Guo was already lying right at the beginning of the hearing.
“Nag oath na po siya. Pero maliwanag na nagsisinungaling kung saan siya ipinanganak. So I bring it to the body, opening pa lang nag sisinungaling na,” Legarda said.
(She has already taken an oath. But it is clear that she is lying about where she was born. So I bring it to the body, even at the very beginning she is already lying.)
“Umpisa pa lang, iniinsist siya, pinagpipilitan niyang ipinanganak sa Tarlac. Wala na pong maniniwala ‘yan, alam na po natin ‘yan,” she added.
(From the very start, she insists, she insists that she was born in Tarlac. No one will believe that anymore; we already know the truth.)
Guo was nabbed by Indonesian authorities in Tangerang City last Wednesday. She arrived in the Philippines early Friday morning.
She first appeared at the Senate investigation last May 7. Her second and last attendance was on May 22. — KBK/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
