Chavez confirms Cheloy Garafil's appointment to MECO

PCO Secretary Cesar Chavez confirmed that Cheloy Garafil would be appointed to lead MECO in Taiwan.

Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cesar Chavez on Thursday confirmed that former PCO Secretary Cheloy Garafil would be appointed to lead the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) in Taiwan.

''That is true, she will be appointed,'' Chavez told Palace reporters.

Chavez, however, said Garafil has not taken her oath yet for her new designation.

Prior to being named as PCO secretary, Garafil served as officer-in-charge of the then Office of the Press Secretary.

In June 2022, Garafil was appointed by President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. to lead the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.

She served as service director at the Committee on Rules of the House of Representatives. She also served as prosecutor for the Department of Justice (DOJ) and State Solicitor for the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG). —VAL, GMA Integrated News
