INFO FROM MALAYSIA

Alice Guo group entered Kuala Lumpur; Sabah stamp flagged — Hontiveros

The camp of Senator Risa Hontiveros said it has information that dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo and her companions entered Malaysia through Kuala Lumpur, Senator Risa Hontiveros said Thursday.

Hontiveros' information is in contrast to Shiela Guo’s previous statement that she and her siblings left the Philippines via several boat transfers before arriving in Sabah on the island of Borneo.

According to the senator, the passport of Shiela Guo, the purported sister of the former mayor, had a July 18 entry stamp in the Malaysian capital city via the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

“Itong verified information namin mula sa isang official na grupo sa Malaysia na ‘yung tatak na entry stamp sa Kuala Lumpur galing sa Denpasar, Bali,” Hontiveros said during the Senate hearing on Guo’s departure from the Philippines.

(We have verified information from an official group in Malaysia that the entry stamp in Kuala Lumpur originated from Denpasar, Bali.)

According to Hontiveros, their contacts in Malaysia informed them that Shiela Guo and Wesley Guo stayed in Malaysia from July 18 to July 21.

“Legally, gamit itong Philippine passport niyo. pero si Alice ay dumating sa Kuala Lumpur, or at least dumating yung passport ni Alice sa Kuala Lumpur, pero wala siyang record,” she said.

(Legally, it's through your Philippine passports. But Alice arrived in Kuala Lumpur, or at least Alice's passport, arrived in Kuala Lumpur, but she has no exit record.)

In contrast, she said information from the Democratic Action Party in Malaysia showed that Guo's group had no record of a legal entry in Sabah.

“Ang problema hindi nag mamatch ang stamp sa totoong dapat na stamp kung Sabah talaga ang baba ninyo,” she said.

(The problem is that the stamp doesn't match the real one if you really arrived in Sabah.)

“According to these stamps July 18, o basa ng iba July 19, kayo pumasok sa Malaysia pero via Kuala Lumpur. Kasi yung ganyang klaseng stamp daw ay itatatak lang sa passport kung galing ng KL,” she added.

(Based on these stamps, it appears that on July 18, and for some on July 19, you entered Malaysia via Kuala Lumpur. Because that kind of stamp is only affixed to a passport if you came from KL.)

Despite these discrepancies, Shiela Guo, maintained that she was telling the truth amid the repeated warnings from the senator.

“Opo (Yes),” Shiela Guo said when asked if everything she stated in the previous hearing was true.

When asked if they traveled on an airplane, Guo said they flew only twice: first from Sabah to another area in Malaysia and then from Malaysia to Singapore.

Beach resort

Meanwhile, Beach Resort Emon Pulo owner Raymond Ronquillo said that Guo and at least 20 companions visited the resort in March 2023.

“Nag resort lang po sila, nag swimming, and then nag land din po yung helicopter nila doon. Siguro po mga dalawa o tatlong balik po ‘yung helicopter with the bisita nila,” Ronquillo said.

(They just stayed at the resort, went swimming, and then their helicopter also landed there. Maybe the helicopter made two or three return trips to bring their visitors.)

He said he did not know the purpose of the visit, but speculated it may have been to “unwind.”

According to Ronquillo, he said that Guo’s group has yet to pay for their stay.

“Sinisingil ko pong ‘yun pong kausap ko pong tao… si JP Samson po,” he said.

(I am asking for them to pay the bill… I’m talking to JP Samson.)

“Siya [si Samson] na daw po ang bahala [sa bill],” he later added.

(Samson said he would take care of the bill.)

Ronquillo also denied any links or accepting any funds from Guo. He also denied the supposed sighting of Guo at Emon Pulo in July.

“I think ‘yung sinasabi po nilang si Alice Guo sightings, ‘yun po kasing front desk po namin kahawig na kahawig po ni Alice Guo,” he said.

(I think what they mean by Alice Guo sightings is that a member of our front desk staff looks very similar to Alice Guo.)—RF, GMA Integrated News
