Indonesian authorities searching for Wesley Guo —BI

Indonesian authorities have been looking for Wesley Guo, the brother of dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo.

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said Thursday that Indonesian authorities have been looking for Wesley Guo, the brother of dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo, hoping to also return him back to the Philippines.

BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval said that their Indonesian counterparts have been “very helpful” and are coordinating well with them following the arrest of Alice Guo in Tangerang City early Wednesday morning.

“They pledged na ito ay matapos at maibalik itong si Mayor Alice Guo even ‘yung…kapatid niyang lalaki…si Wesley, ‘yun ay kasama rin sa mga mino-monitor nila at gusto rin nilang maibalik agad,” Sandoval said in an Unang Balita interview.

(They pledged that this will be over soon and that Mayor Alice Guo will be returned, including her brother Wesley, whom they have been monitoring. They want to bring him back to the Philippines immediately.)

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla on Wednesday said that he still suspects that some BI personnel were involved in the departure of Alice Guo and her siblings in July.

Shiela Guo, the former mayor’s purported sister, previously said that she, Guo, and Wesley left the country through several boats.

Shiela and Cassandra Li Ong, the authorized representative of the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) that was raided in Porac, Pampanga, were intercepted in Indonesia last month.

Alice Guo, who was nabbed on Wednesday, is expected to be brought back to the Philippines on Thursday afternoon.

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. said Guo's arrest should serve as a warning to those trying to evade justice in the Philippines. He also warned that those who helped Guo leave the country amid the charges she is facing will "pay the price." —VAL, GMA Integrated News
