Enteng disrupts power across 10 electric coops —DOE

Tropical Storm Enteng continues to disrupt power services in 10 electric cooperatives across Luzon and the Visayas as of Tuesday, the Department of Energy (DOE) said.

In its power situation bulletin, the DOE, citing reports from the National Electrification Administration (NEA), said that 22 electric cooperatives across 21 provinces and seven regions were placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) due to Enteng.

Of the 22 electric cooperatives (ECs) under TCWS, “10 ECs are experiencing Partial Power Interruptions (PPIs) with ongoing restoration efforts.”

The 10 electric cooperatives are the following:

Northern Luzon

  • Ilocos Sur Electric Cooperative Inc. (ISECO)
  • Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative Inc. (INEC)

CAR (CORDILLERA ADMINISTRATIVE REGION)

  • Abra Electric Cooperative (ABRECO)
  • Mountain Province Electric Cooperative Inc. (MOPRECO)

CALABARZON

  • First Laguna Electric Cooperative Inc. (FLECO)
  • Quezon I Electric Cooperative Inc. (QUEZELCO I)

Bicol Region

  • Camarines Norte Electric Cooperative Inc. (CANORECO)
  • Camarines Sur I Electric Cooperative Inc. (CASURECO I)

Eastern Visayas

  • Samar I Electric Cooperative Inc. (SAMELCO I)
  • Northern Samar Electric Cooperative Inc. (NORSAMELCO)

Meanwhile, the DOE said the following electric cooperatives that were previously reported with partial power interruptions have now resumed normal operations:

Central Luzon

  • Nueva Ecija I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (NEECO I)

Bicol Region

  • Sorsogon I Electric Cooperative (SORECO I) - 295 out of 347 or 85.01% affected municipalities are already restored.

The Manila Electric Company, on the other hand, had reported that there were 28,256 affected customers with power interruption due to Enteng in Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Bulacan, Rizal, Quezon, and Batangas as of September 2, 2024.

Of the affected customers, around 4,000 remain without power service as of September 3, 2024.

The DOE said that “there are no reported on-grid power generation plants affected by Enteng.”

The Energy Department added that “all dams managed/operated by NPC (National Power Corp.) in Luzon have ceased spilling activities and are in normal operations.”

Meanwhile, four dams in Mindanao have ongoing normal discharge operations.

The DOE said the following transmission lines have experienced outages but are now fully restored:

  • Cabanatuan-San Luis 69kV Line
  • Cabanatuan-Bulualto 69kV Line

“As of 12 noon on September 3, 2024, all NGCP’s transmission lines and facilities are under normal operations,” it said.

For the downstream oil industry, the DOE said “no reported oil supply shortage was received as of this writing.”

“The oil supply is sufficient in affected areas,” it said.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
