Chinese from POGO tries to escape from PAOCC amid heavy rain

A Chinese Philippine Offshore Gaming Operation (POGO) worker took advantage of heavy rains to try escaping from the detrention facility of the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission.

According to Oscar Oida's report on "24 Oras," one of the detainee's shoes fell during the escape and prompted the guards to check the CCTV.

He was promptly taken ino custody not long after.

CCTV footage showed the POGO worker on the rooftop..

He looked around and when he got the proper timing, crawled away.

The Chinese POGO worker also sustained wounds on his body.

“Dumaan pa siya sa bubong so maingay siyempre. Actually, sixth floor tapos bumagska ng fifth floor tapos nagbaba baba pa siya. Later, ipapa-check natin likod niya kasi may nararamdaman na parang masakit likod niya,” said PAOCC Undersecretary Gilbert Cruz.

(There was noise because went through the roof. Actually, he came from the sixth floor and fell on the fifth floor before going down. Later, we will check his back because he told us his back is hurting.)

According to PAOCC, the Chinese man is one of the foreigners caught in the raided POGO in Bamban, Tarlac.

“Ang tingin kasi namin dito nabalitaan na nila na they will be deported in the few days. Siguro kanina yung pinaka magandang timing kasi malakas yung ulan. Takot nga talaga sila sa China. Pag uwi nila kasi natutuluyan sila doon. Karamihan ng mga pinadeport namin doon hanggang ngayon nakakulong pa,” Cruz said.

(We think they heard that they will be deported in a few days. Maybe earlier was the best time to escape because it was raining heavily. They are afraid to go back to China because when they return, they will be imprisoned. Most of the people we deported are still in prison.) —Celine Serquiña/NB, GMA Integrated News
