Palace suspends gov’t work, classes in NCR, Region IV-A on Sept. 3
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said Monday government work and classes in private and public schools in National Capital Region and Region IV-A are suspended on Tuesday, September 3, due to bad weather.
In Memorandum Circular No. 63, Bersamin said the suspension of government work and classes in all levels was in view of the continuous rainfall brought by Tropical Storm Enteng and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).
"Public and private schools, no classes. Only private companies are left to their discretion to cancel work tomorrow," Presidential Communications Office Secretary Cheloy Garafil said when sought for clarification.
However, those agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, response to disaster and calamities, as well as the performance of other vital services shall continue their operations.
On the other hand, the suspension of work for private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads, according to Bersamin.
State weather bureau PAGASA said Enteng has moved over to Quirino after making landfall in Casiguran, Aurora.
According to its 5 p.m. tropical cyclone bulletin, Enteng was spotted in the vicinity of Maddela town packing maximum sustained winds of 85 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 140 kph.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
