3 reported dead in Central Visayas due to Enteng —NDRRMC
Three people were reported dead while 10 were injured in Central Visayas due to the impact of Tropical Storm Enteng, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Monday.
The NDRRMC said it is still verifying the report on one fatality in Naga City.
In its 8 a.m. report, the NDRRMC said Enteng has affected 63 people or 14 families in Central Visayas so far.
Of the total number, 43 persons or nine families were staying in an evacuation center while 20 individuals or five families were taking shelter in other places.
Nine areas in Luzon were under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 as of Monday morning as Enteng slowly turned toward the east of Polillo Islands, state weather bureau PAGASA said.
Classes have been suspended in some Luzon and Visayas areas due to Enteng. In Metro Manila, which was under TCWS No. 1, government work was also suspended.
As of PAGASA's latest update, Enteng was located 100 kilometers north northwest of Daet, Camarines Norte or 115 km east northeast of Infanta, Quezon moving Northwestward at 15 km per hour. It was packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph.
“From tomorrow early morning (3 September), ENTENG will generally turn west northwestward. Possible landfall over Babuyan Islands is also not ruled out,” PAGASA said.
“ENTENG is forecast to maintain tropical storm category until Tuesday and will intensify into a severe tropical storm by Wednesday. It may also reach a peak category of typhoon by Thursday or Friday. Further intensification over the Philippine Sea is still likely due to favorable conditions,” it added. —KBK, GMA Integrated News
