850 inmates released from July-August —Bucor


BuCor announced that 850 persons deprived of liberty were released from July 19 to August 30.

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) on Friday announced that 850 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) were released from July 19 to August 30.

According to the bureau, this brings the total number of released PDLs under the  Marcos administration to 15,943.

Of the 850, 146 were released due to acquittal, 487 for expiration of maximum sentence with good conduct time allowance, were granted parole, 28 for expiration of maximum sentence, and 18 were granted probation, among others.

BuCor said that 429 were from the New Bilibid Prison, 51 from the Correctional Institution for Women, 135 from the Davao Prison and Penal Farm, 45 from the Leyte Regional Prison, 76 from the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm, and 65 from the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm.

Meanwhile, Catapang said that the BuCor will implement a regular rotation of personnel assigned to secure PDLs to avoid familiarity.

“Effective immediately,  all personnel  who have direct contact with PDL such as keepers, patrol, post tower guards, gate officers, escorts and others shall be rotated every 15 days,” Catapang said. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
