Charges vs Shiela Guo, Cassandra Li Ong filed —DOJ

The charges against Shiela Guo, the purported sister of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, and Cassandra Li Ong, the authorized representative of a raided POGO hub in Porac, Pampanga, have been filed, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ).

In an ambush interview, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said the charges were filed on Tuesday with a Pasay court.

“Filed na ‘yun, filed na (that’s filed),” Remulla said.

Asked where the charges were filed, he said, “Pasay.”

Guo was charged with violation of Article 150 of the Revised Penal Code for Disobedience to Summons issued by the Senate as well as for allegedly using a fake Philippine passport, as recommended by the National Prosecution Service.

Meanwhile, Ong was charged with disobedience to summons issued by the House of Representatives as well as obstruction of justice for harboring, concealing, or facilitating the escape of a criminal offender.

The two were intercepted in Indonesia last week and brought back to the country to face separate congressional investigations.

Shiela Guo, who is reportedly a Chinese citizen named Zhang Mier, previously divulged that she, Alice Guo, and their supposed brother Wesley Guo left the country on board several boats. She said they met up with Ong in Malaysia.

Remulla, however, found her pronouncements to be unreliable and did not give much weight to the idea that she could be a state witness.

The charges for falsification against Guo and Ong were  referred to the National Bureau of Investigation and other appropriate law enforcement agencies for case build-up and further investigation. —KBK, GMA Integrated News
