Police deny warning to bomb KOJC compound if Quiboloy not surrendered

The Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 on Wednesday called “fake news” reports that the police allegedly warned Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) members of bombing their compound if they do not surrender their leader, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.

In a video posted on Facebook, PRO 11 spokesperson Police Major Catherine dela Rey warned the public against wrong information from the religious group.

“Isa na namang kasinungalingan ang pinapalabas ng KOJC na bobombahin naming ang kanilang compound (KOJC is spreading another lie that we will bomb their compound),” Dela Rey said.

“Kagaya ng kasinungalingan na sinasabi nila na pinutulan na namin sila ng tubig at kuryente, eh kagabi ang ganda-ganda ng ilaw ng KOJC compound,” she added.

(It is like the lie they said that we have cut off their water and power supply but last night, the lights in the KOJC compound were so beautiful.)

Due to this, Dela Rey discouraged the public from sharing this on social media and advised them to verify and check with legitimate news outlets.

“Kaya sa lahat ng mga mamamayan, kababayan natin, huwag agad kayong maniniwala sa mga pinapalabas nilang mga kasinungalingan,” she said.

“Mag-verify kayo. Makinig din kayo sa mga legitimate media na nagsasabi ng katotohanan. Sana naman po ay huwag niyong i-spread ang mga fake news na pinapalabas nila,” she added.

Quiboloy-owned media SMNI News reported that the PNP supposedly warned KOJC members that it will bomb their cathedral if they do not surrender their leader to authorities in two hours.

Arrest warrants were issued against Quiboloy and others for alleged violation of the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act as well as Qualified Human Trafficking.

Quiboloy went into hiding shortly after the Senate issued an arrest order against him for refusing to attend the chamber's hearings.

He has also been indicted by a federal grand jury in the US District Court for the Central District of California for conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion and sex trafficking of children; sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion; conspiracy; and bulk cash smuggling.

In 2022, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation also issued “wanted” posters for Quiboloy and two other members of his KOJC, namely Teresita Tolibas Dandan and Helen Panilag.

Quiboloy’s camp has repeatedly denied the allegations against him. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
