DOH says latest mpox patient discharged, PH procuring 2,000 vaccine doses
The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday confirmed that the latest patient diagnosed with mpox in the country in the Philippines has already been sent home, and that contact tracing in the case has already been completed.
In a report on 24 Oras Weekend, the DOH said that the patient's mpox was of the milder Clade II variant. Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa, speaking with GMA Super Radyo dzBB, also said that there have been no confirmed cases of the clade Ib, a new strain responsible for the outbreak in Africa, and with cases reported in Sweden and Thailand.
Herbosa said the Philippines is also in the process of securing 2,000 doses of mpox vaccines that have been offered to the country.
The secretary earlier warned of community transmission of mpox, after the first case was reported to have been a 33-year-old male from Metro Manila who had no history of travel abroad. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA Integrated News
