MIAA SAYS

NAIA Terminal 3 back to 'comfortable' temperatures

The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 air conditioning system returned to a "comfortable" temperature on Saturday following repair work on its malfunctioning unit.

According to a Super Radyo DZBB report by Mao dela Cruz, repair work on the damaged chillers was accomplished at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

MIAA spokesperson Chris Noel Bendijo said many areas at the terminal are currently at the ideal airport terminal temperature of 23 degrees Celsius, while other parts are at 24 degrees Celsius, which is deemed “comfortable.”

The cooling system is continuously monitored and not forced to avoid the rise in temperature of the chillers.

Temperature readings at Terminal 3 are being held every three hours.

Bendijo said, according to the terminal’s engineering team, the temperature is expected to go down in the succeeding hours and that all chillers are already functioning normally.

To recall, the MIAA decided to temporarily shut down the chillers as part of precautionary measures to identify the cause of the problem following high operational temperatures with Chillers 1, 2 and 4.

The air conditioning system at Terminal 3 was also temporarily shut down for 12 hours last month, inconveniencing passengers and visitors at the gateway who bemoaned the sweltering "Saudi-like" temperatures.  —VAL, GMA Integrated News
